Our Needs...

Our last newsletter showed the resources that God has given us …to produce a wonderful harvest of corn, and in the future, to produce vegetables and fruit, which will save us 30% of our food budget. Bananas and papaya trees will not be fully grown until February. We now spend approximately $1000/mo. on food and household items. But when we complete our first full harvest, we will be paying only $700/mo for food and household items because of our farm and of course, the Grace of God. When the next 10 orphans arrive, we will have to find another $500/mo to feed them.

God has taught us to use our resources well. However, we have a huge list of needs that are difficult for us to remedy without a boost from America. God bless America. God bless you.

Our little cottage, which will house 10 new orphans, is almost finished. We are beginning to search for 10 of the neediest AIDS Orphans we can find, and we will invite them to come live with us. We will promise to protect them, defend them, feed them, clothe them, love them, and send them to school. Our board will seek God on our knees to help us find the children whom He has chosen. Our older orphans have formed a committee to help us uncover God’s choice. They call themselves “OHO” (Orphans Helping Orphans) We want them to be involved in the process so that they will learn to love and respect what we do and continue our work when we are gone.

There are more than 2 million orphans, whose parents have died of AIDS, roaming the streets here in Sub-Sahara Africa living in unspeakable filth and painful hunger. Pray that we recognize the children who are God’s choices.

What do we need to run this new orphanage?

We need to find 10 sponsors for these 10 new orphans.

$15/mo to feed one child.
$15/mo to clothe one child.
$5 /mo for toiletries for one child.
$50/mo for staff services for one child. Cooks, farm workers, “mothers”, etc.
$ 20/mo for utilities for one child.
$ 20/mo for meds, clinic fees, and health insurance
$ 20/ mo to educate one child including 8 text books and a Bible for each/yr.
$ 5/mo for tutelage
$ 5/mo for transportation
$150/mo is the total which is called “ a full sponsorship”. BUT YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND ANY MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD PER MONTH. JUST CHOOSE ONE NEED FROM THE ABOVE LIST, EVEN $5/MO WILL BE HIGHLY HONORED.

As we find each new orphan, we will send you a photo of him and his environment, and of course his name.

We are much more experienced this time around, so we have made some changes in policy and in requirements. OASIS will now only accept orphans under 6 years old so that we will have time enough with them to develop their devotion to Christ and the individual character of each.

My deepest gratitude and sincerest love for your outstanding generosity. Virginia ( Gigi )

Lovingly,
Gigi (Virginia) Founder and Director of OASIS OF PEACE VILLAGE, Kenya, Africa.
