We would like to begin by thanking you from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done. This
has been a blessed year for both our American “An Orphan’s Dream” and our beautiful
orphanage “Oasis of Peace” in Gachoka, Kenya. An Orphan’s Dream had its largest fundraiser
ever in November at the Red Parrot in Hull, Massachusetts. It was a smashing success and for all
of us, it felt like the kick-off of our Christmas Season!! We were also blessed to have our Founder,
Virginia Burbank, who has returned to the United States for health reasons, present. Virginia
added to the festive nature of our fundraiser! We raised nearly 50% more than we did in 2013!
The news from Oasis of Peace was even more exciting. Our Director of Oasis of Peace is Paul
Maringa, who is doing an outstanding job. Paul is Symon Maringa’s brother. Symon is President
of the U.S. Fundraising Organization “An Orphan’s Dream”. The land on which our orphanage
is built has been in the Maringa family for 40 years. Their grandfather, Obabiah Gakunju, was
110 years old when he sold the beautiful 10 acre site to our organization.
This year, we were so proud to have built a second cottage on the property to house additional
We now are the home to 27 orphans!! We are also excited to say that Brother Rene Roy, a Marist Brother who has a love of Africa, has joined our Board as a much needed spiritual advisor.
We have completed an extensive review of our finances which indicates 92 cents of every dollar goes directly to the care and support of our beautiful children. In the coming year, we will roll out our new website and dramatically increase our social media presence.
All of this great news would not be possible without your generous support. Please be sure to check out the biographies of each of our kids on the Children page. Their stories are compelling and their progress unbelievable.
We are asking each of you to consider gifting at year’s end to further the Mission of our orphanage. Any gift, no matter how small, is appreciated. An Orphan’s Dream is a Non-profit 501(c) 3 organization and any donations can be mailed to:
P.O. Box 692727

Once again, from all of us, thank you for all your kindness. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
