With Christmas and Festive Holidays approaching you can have the best of both worlds! Sponsor a child or make a donation of $200 or more during the fundraiser and receive a gift to share with a loved one. We have many children in need of sponsorship. Please help us reach our goal of having all children sponsored by signing up personally or telling your friends and family! Many of our children are co-sponsored by groups of people and it’s a beautiful thing.
The Children are excelling in school.
This year, three of our young women completed their studies and entered the workforce, nine students are enrolled in university and technical programs, and every child at Oasis of Peace is in school and advancing to the next level. Linda Makena graduated from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and Business and is now teaching at St. Stephen’s Ngenge Secondary School. Wincate Karimi earned her Diploma in Nursing and is practicing at Tenri Children’s Hospital. Risper Nyakio, who holds a diploma in Social Work and Community Development from Cooperative University in Nairobi, has just completed a second diploma in Project Planning and Management. Nine more students have been accepted to universities and technical institutes, where they are studying physiotherapy, education, commerce, hospitality, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, and heavy equipment operation. Eight students have advanced to high school, including three in their final year who will sit for national exams. Nine are in junior secondary, and ten are in primary school, from our youngest, Samuel, in pre-primary, to Alex in Grade 6. With each graduation, we see what your support makes possible: young adults who are working, earning, and contributing to their communities.
Spotlight: Euphraith Nyakio
Euphraith (seen left) is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Education at Mount Kenya University. She is following in the footsteps of Linda Makena, our first university graduate in education, and is preparing to return to the classroom as a teacher. Her journey shows what steady support makes possible: a young woman who grew up at Oasis of Peace now training to shape the next generation of Kenyan students.
